PB + Chocolate Smoothie for your Valentine

February is a very sweet month! You may notice more chocolate in your life than usual. When you are deciding what to get your Valentine this year, I find that homemade gifts always have a great amount of sentimental value. If you normally buy a Valentine’s Day card, try making one! If you normally go out to eat on the special day, try staying in and making something together. Here’s a healthy recipe for a sweet peanut butter and chocolate smoothie that you can make your Valentine as an alternative to a box of chocolates – Or maybe to accompany them!

Ingredients:
1 large ripe frozen banana
2 TBSP of natural peanut or almond butter
1 TBSP cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder
1 to 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk

1/2 cup of ice
Drizzle of honey

Optional:

1 TBSP flax or hemp seeds for added nutrition
Coconut whipped cream for toppingIn a blender, combine almond milk, peanut butter, banana, ice and cacao powder. Blend until smooth. Sweeten with honey. Add additional almond milk for a smoother texture. Enjoy!
