Green is the color of the Fourth – Heart – Chakra. It is located in the centre of the chest, in the region of the heart. Note how Heart Chakra bridges the lower triangle (the root, sacral and solar plexus chakras) and the upper triangle (throat, third eye and crown chakras).
Green… fresh, grassy leafy, lush, raw, tender, verdant, budding, developing, growing… is the color of healthy relationships and is a great healing color for our eyes as it is said to be the most restful color for the human eye. There are even claims that it can improve vision. Green suggests stability and endurance. (I have to mention, though, that green can also mean unripe, half-formed, undried, un decayed, and is known as color of jealousy at least since Shakespeare.) It is the color of Spring and it renews and restores energy. Green, as opposed to red, also means safety – it is the color of “GO” in road traffic. The Sanskrit name for our Heart Chakra is Anahata Chakra, and it means “unhurt, un-struck, and unbeaten”. Serenity, calmness, balance and feeling kindness and compassion for yourself and others are the themes of Heart Chakra.
Be green, see green, visualize green, breathe green, feel green, be calm, be kind, practice kindness, forgive, be love, practice love, practice yoga… all of the mentioned actions represent our Heart Chakra.
Some affirmations evoked by this chakra could sound like this: “My heart is empowered with love”, “I can give and share, without expecting anything in return”, “I am blessed with abundance”, “ It is safe for me to be in a loving relationship”, “I am fully open to giving love”, “I am grateful for my blessings”, “I am fully open to receiving love”, “I forgive myself”, “ My heart is free from past hurts”, “ I love myself unconditionally”, “I chose joy”, “I forgive others”, “I love others unconditionally”… and as always- do, do, do come up with your own versions and variations of the affirmations – and any and many more that resonate with you and make your heart sing!
Pink quartz, clear quartz, jade, green calcite are the crystals associated with this chakra, as are these essential oils: rose, geranium, neroli, ylang ylang, jasmine and bergamot. Use them with a heartfelt awareness! Of course, there are other ways to honor the Heart Chakra – smile at other people (it is contagious!) ; forgive, let go and move on; encourage and give positive feedback; choose one day a week (to start with) to go without criticizing anyone- including (and starting with) yourself; add green to your wardrobe; practice some gentle yoga. Chanting the sound of “OM” and holding your hands to your heart – in the the prayer mudra (Anjali mudra) – brings the attention and awareness to your heart area. Joining your energy with the collective energy of the world and that of your fellow yogis and yoginis in a Let It Go Class – at the beginning and at the end of the class – allows you to honor the Fourth Chakra and the kindness and love in you and others. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s OM to resonate with our Green planet and with love and kindness in each and every one of us!

The color of green I look at it in a different way I’ve always looked at the grass and the trees but what I have just read it gives a new meaning to the color green to me
