Every now and then, I forget about my Let It Go yoga practice for a few weeks (or maybe a few months). I will teach yoga classes, but then find myself doing other types of workouts and not realize that I haven’t taken the time to stretch and relax. Some of the workout classes that I take do not focus on stretching, which I find strange because it is incredibly important to take the time to stretch before and after class. When I do come back to the mat, I’m so thankful for all the benefits that yoga delivers time after time. I want to remind myself (and you!) of the advantages of taking some yoga time for yourself. There are countless benefits of Let It Go yoga – Here are the ones that keep me coming back!

  1. Rejuvenate your body. It feels amazing to lie down, close my eyes and spend an hour feeling relaxed. I always feel so refreshed after taking the time to practice, especially at the end of the day! Yoga is a great form of self care, because it improves your body and mind at the same time. Plus that post-yoga glow is a real thing.

  2. Think about nothing. I used to think this was the most uninteresting part of yoga, but now I realize how great it is to take away all of my thoughts and focus solely on my breathing. There’s always so much going on in my head, so taking that out of the equation for a period of time really helps to cleanse and recharge. I love to do yoga in the evening before a big day at work, so I can stop stressing about everything and allow my body to relax instead. It helps me go into the next day calm and collected.

  3. Improve your practice. It feels so good to go back to the poses that I know and love and see how they feel after each time I practice. When I practice Let It Go Yoga, I’m able to see my progression with each hip opener on both sides of the body. I do have days where I am not as flexible, but noticing how each pose feels is really what the practice is all about.

  4. Be in a positive space. Whether I’m practicing on my own or being guided in a class, I know that when I get on my yoga mat, I’ll be in a positive space with no disruptions or distractions. When I activate my positive mindset, it inspires me to accomplish my goals on and off the mat!

  5. Create affirmations for after class. You can take your Let It Go yoga practice into the real world! When I create an affirmation specifically for how I’m feeling in that moment, it usually revolves around what I’m doing in my day-to-day life. I love to take that affirmation with me into the world after my practice and remind myself of the positive while I’m in a stressful environment later in the week.

  6. Let It Go. I love to leave all of my feelings and stressors at the door and focus on my breathing. It feels great to reevaluate what I was thinking about after class and realize that some things don’t matter as much as I thought they did. I can let it go, and it always feels great!

What keeps you coming back to yoga class?
