Halloween doesn’t need to be scary to be fun.
Here are some tips to make your Halloween traditions more positive, healthy and send a good message to our children.
1.Give your trick or treaters organic candy. I know it’s more expensive and it still has lots of sugar but at least you are sending a healthy message, and you can feel a little better about what you are feeding the children.
2. Let go of the fright! Be careful with small children. Scary costumes may be fun when the kids are older but I have seen little ones really frightened by them. Life is scary enough, why create more reasons for young people to feel afraid.
3. Design your costumes around public figures you admire. RBG costumes are a good example. It’s a great way to teach children history and values that matter. Check out your local thrift stores for inexpensive costume pieces and create your own.
4. Stop supporting scary movies! These movies make money and that’s why Hollywood keeps making them. There are more positive ways to get your adrenaline running! Yoga anyone?
5. Host a Halloween yoga party! This could be lots of fun, especially if your theme is to come as the person you most admire. Who would you be?
6. Have your children use a pillow case or cloth carry bag when trick or treating. They can carry more loot and are friendlier for the environment than paper or plastic.
7. Celebrate the fall season with pumpkin carving party. There are amazing patterns and ideas online that you could use to show off your artistic abilities. Be sure to save and roast the seeds for a tasty treat!
8 Treat your family and friends to new recipes using pumpkin, squash, apples, cranberries and other seasonal fruits and vegetables. Here is our most requested recipes pumpkin muffin recipe. https://letitgoyoga.com/pumpkin-muffins-gluten-free/ Enjoy!
