Hi from Sue Anne and Jim!
We are here to help you every step of the way to assure a successful Let It Go Yoga journey. If needed, we can help get you set up and help with any technical problems. We are also available to help with any personal concerns or questions you may have along the way.
There are several ways to contact us: you can write and comment within the course (this option is completely private). We are also available through the private Facebook group and through our email addresses. We love hearing from you and appreciate any feedback on how the course is working or not working for you. Below are our suggestions for 10 of the most common questions we have received.
1. Since I have the time right now, is it ok to practice the Let It Go Yoga series everyday?
Yes! You can practice the Let It Go Yoga series as often as you like, no need to wait a day in between. Everyday, if your time permits, but be reasonable and work out a schedule that you can follow without setting yourself up for failure.
2. If the yoga poses hurt, what should I do?
If a pose hurts that means you need to pay attention. Be gentle with yourself and be sure not to push or force yourself into a pose. Come out of a pose if you feel sharp pain. Please, review the video in module one, that explains the use of props and how to individualize each posture.
3. This practice was easy for me … is that normal?
Yes, it’s perfectly normal, but you are one of the lucky ones! You will need to move around in the pose and find your edge – coming into the pose a little more, so that you can feel it. We have had a few students who report that they did not feel an edge in all of the poses and used the time to meditate, relax and just be.
4. It was difficult and I was sore after… is that normal?
Yes, this is normal as well. Many find the practice challenging. It’s a sign that you are finding places that need to be worked on. If you are feeling sore the next day, our best advice is to do the practice again.
5. What if I start feeling really impatient and want to get out of the pose?
This is the time to use your tools (the diaphragmatic breathing, and counting techniques) to calm your mind and just be with what is. It may be one of the most important lessons of the practice. So just notice your thoughts, stay in the pose and do not respond.
6. It seems like every time I set up time for myself, something happens to sabotage my efforts and I put my practice off, what can I do?
This happens a lot! The phone will ring, the kids will need you, something that seems more important will keep you from getting started. Our best advice is to be aware that this can happen, plan for it, turn your phone off, tell your family you would like to have this time or invite them to join you, make a commitment to yourself and follow through. You will be empowered by your decision!
7. My husband was laughing during parts of the class and I felt sad in some of the poses, what’s up with that?
Emotional release is very common with this practice. Both laughter and tears are a signs that you are going deeper, releasing thoughts and feelings. We recommend allowing the feelings to flow, stay in your pose and notice how you feel as you continue.
8. What’s a good way to track my progress?
Everyday is different, and consequently, your yoga practice will vary as well. We set up the course over a six week period so that you can give the practice a chance and can see the positive changes that occur both physically and mentally.
9. Do I have to take the quizzes?
The quizzes are for teachers that need CEU’s for the Yoga Alliance. They are optional, you can skip them if you would like. Just be sure to press the green “lesson complete” button to move to the next lesson.
10. I found this class really helpful and I’d love to share it with my friends?. Is that ok?
Please do, Let It Go Yoga is a gift that you can give yourself, your family and your friends. Feel free to tell others about our free offer. The video lessons can be a very personal self-care practice that you can do on your own or it can be fun to share the experience and practice the class with a friend or the folks you are sheltering in place with. The additional weekly videos will give you assignments that you can share and support each other in letting it go!
