I am not sure if I was truly hoping that yoga in general, and Let It Go Yoga specifically, would magically transform me into an all knowing and wise human being but I admit that there was some hope and notions that it would and could be the case. Well, for one, I definitely knew that it would make my life richer, better and filled with awareness and awe to the brim. So, about 20 years ago,  I threw myself into learning and practicing Let It Go Yoga with the master teachers – Sue Anne and Jim Parsons – with the same urgency and immediate need to know more (and then some) that I usually apply to all new projects, courses, ideas, ventures and possibilities.

I know now that I was not aware of just how much work I would have to do on myself  throughout this learning process. And I am not talking about adding a fraction of an inch to the stretch or getting physically stronger in this or that pose. I also had to adjust my competitiveness and high achiever’s attitude as there was not going to be a test at the end of the process that customarily allows one to think that the learning of the given material has ended and/or that you have mastered it, and that one can bask in the glory of the A+ grade  for ever ….With Let It Go Yoga, as we keep growing and changing, so does our practice and what we are able to pick up from the revelations and insights gained from it. So, depending on what is going on in your life – you could be surprised at what “the old poses” could be bringing up this time! Even though we practice the same poses, we learn different lessons. We learn different lessons from each other and we learn different lessons from our own previous ones over time. We  become our own lessons. We become our own tests. We just become our own.

With time, I  started smiling to myself during the postures that appeared hard on that or this particular day, I allowed myself to become curious as to why particular thoughts showed up in particular poses for me and I allowed myself to just be and not judge myself.  I just Let It Go!

I think that I finally get it – I might not ever become that all knowing and wise human being I was hoping to become when I first dived into yoga, and that that is perfectly fine. I get it that there is no end to learning and self acceptance. And I get it that my personal Let It Go Yoga practice is not a project, it is a grace.
