I have always loved making arts and crafts. It started with my love of knitting, and over the last couple of years I have learned more about fiber arts and also how to make ceramics, eye pillows, spa pillows and note cards.
My ceramics teacher Francine Kirsch has taught me a lot. Francine is an amazing artist. I’d love to learn all that she knows! We started with simple molds and glazes and now I have learned to make plates, magnets and wall art, and succulent containers. Francine has shown me how to create different designs so that each piece is unique. I love to give my ceramics as gifts and love to see them displayed in my house and at my friends’ homes.
I love knitting scarves. I knit all the time. This year I have been learning more about knitting and fiber arts with my friend Beverly Ryan. Bev has taught me to weave on a loom, to hand dye fabrics, to turn my scarves into vests and ponchos. My favorite thing is to knit scarves and hats that match.
I have lots in my collection, all colors and sizes. Even baby hats! I love to give my scarves as birthday presents!
My teacher Indra Strong has taught me to use a sewing machine. She has taught me to make lavender filled eye pillows for use in yoga classes. We make spa pillows, too. They are great when you heat them in the microwave. You can use them to sooth your sore muscles. Indra also taught me how to make these cool note cards. I use pieces of cut material and decorate the cards. I create cards with hearts on them to show that there is a lot of love that goes into making each card.
This year, I am really excited to be participating in the Homespun Holiday Craft Fair. I have been working on all of my gifts for months and I am so excited to show everyone my booth at the fair. I am happy that people can give my gifts as holiday presents this year. I will be busy all November long making more pieces and waiting for the big day! I hope that you will come see my booth and check out the other booths at the fair as well! Come shop and support 60 makers of handmade goods at the historic adobe, Casa de la Guerra. This is going to be a show you don't want to miss!!! Plenty of free parking in SB city lots. December 8th, 10 am to 5 pm, Casa de la Guerra. 15 East de la Guerra, Santa Barbara.
