June is here! We are continuing to find creative ways to connect, stay safe, and support one another through this difficult time. For the past few months, playing games online with friends and staying active have been helpful tools for my mental health. I’ve been inspired to start teaching yoga online as a way to keep the creativity and connection flowing.

Last fall, I developed a unique yoga and mindfulness course called Savasana + Joy for actors, writers, and creatives in Los Angeles. Over the 6 week course, the class evolved from a traditional yoga class into a creativity session with yoga, improv, games, and acting. It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience for me! I loved teaching each week and seeing what new activities would work.

We warmed up our bodies with gentle yoga stretches and then warmed up our minds with lively improv games. It was spontaneous and allowed each student to express their creative ideas while connecting with their bodies. It was great seeing everyone try new things and get out of their comfort zone.

My goal now is to transition this class to an online format. I am planning on teaching S+J online for the month of June! It will be a learning process as we use Zoom to play games and do yoga together. Thankfully, we are all adapting to this new technology and staying creative in the process. I’m looking forward to creating an online community that wants to have fun, stretch, and enjoy each other’s company.

I’d love to have you join Savasana + Joy! This class isn’t just for actors and writers. It’s for all levels of ability and all stages of creative expression. It’s for anyone who wants to loosen up… physically and creatively!
